Armagh Aqua sprinters put in a strong performance against a well drilled Enniskillen team in the latest round of the Aqua Sprint league. The final score was Armagh 190 Enniskillen 210 in what could be best described as a very competitive affair. The Armagh team was captained by Katie Murray and Thomas Dougan who both led by example in all their events.
Armagh were always going to be on the back foot as they were unable to field any A boys on the day. The A girls swam with great heart and more than made up for the boys. Grainne Farnan, Abbey McParland, Alannah McGoldrick, Lily Rice put in some fine performance in their events.
The boys B group put in some fine swims – Harry Dougan won all his events followed home very closely by Sean Sands. Annie Rice continually put the pressure back on Enniskillen with some very strong swims. Cliodhna Drumm did particularly well in her Breast stroke coming home with an important win.
Roise Beagan, Muireann O’Kane, Maeve Kelly, Aoife Drumm, Emma McKinney also swam with great destintion in the C girls.
The C boys was led well by Ryan Johnston, Tom Fox and Dylan Steward who scored highly with good swims. As is now usual Cahir McGurgan, our butterfly specialist, came flying home in his fly race in 1st place.
The D girls saw Courtney Johnston go head to head with Enniskillens top D girl. Courtney who had been swimming in the Ulsters Schools gala earlier in the day in Ballymena won 2 of her swims and was 2nd in the others. Katie Murray put in some of her best swims on the day for Armagh taking some vital points.
In the boys Thomas Dougan picked up 4 wins from 4 and led by example in his events.
All in all it was a great days swimming for Armagh only to come up short on the day.
Big massive thanks to all who helped out.
Our next outing is away to Alliance in May??
